Frequently Asked Questions

Why?

Why do I need to make an appointment to speak with you?

Of course, all of my clients can reach me in case of a true emergency.  However, if no emergency exists I work by appointment.  The reasoning behind this is that all of my clients are important to me and I want to be able to give them my undivided attention while I speak with them.  If my clients do not have an appointment it is difficult, at best, to concentrate fully on their issue because I have likely been working on another client matter prior to picking up the telephone to speak with them and am having to abruptly switch gears.  This is unfair to both you and the client for whom I was just working.  Therefore, we work by appointment whenever possible.

For potential clients, I, too, want to be able to provide my undivided attention to you.  Therefore, I request that you provide the information requested when clicking the link above so I will have an idea of where you are and what you are looking for prior to embarking on our conversation.

What?

What exactly will happen during our appointment?

The short answer is it depends.  If you are an existing client and this is an emergency, please call me immediately on the emergency telephone number I provided you.  If this is not an emergency, you can expect that we will discuss your issue and come up with some sort of a plan of action.  So we will invest up to 30 minutes on the phone together to discuss where you are and what our next steps will be.  If it can be tackled and put away in this short appointment, great, if not then we will schedule a time for us to sit down and move forward.  Unfortunately, I cannot anticipate each and every issue that can arise, so until we speak, I cannot get any more specific than this.

For potential clients, please be prepared to explain to me what you are wanting to accomplish.  I often am contacted by potential clients who want a specific service, which is great.  But, sometimes after we have had a discussion about the goals the potential client is wanting to accomplish, the specific service requested will not serve the requested goals.  So, please be prepared to discuss the outcome you are trying to achieve and we will work from there.

Who?

What kinds of clients does Integrated General Counsel work with?

Integrated General Counsel works with entrepreneurs, start-ups and small business owners.  My clients span the spectrum from retail to service, technology to online business, contractors to professionals and most everything in between.

When?

When will we speak?

It may not happen right away.  I set aside time in my calendar for existing clients and prospective clients, but sometimes that available time will extend out two or three weeks.  This is all a function of the other things I have on my plate.  You are valuable to me and, as explained above, I make these appointments via a pre-determined time so I can give you my undivided attention during our entire time together.  Having said all of that, I do often have appointments available on an emergency basis, so if you are needing to speak with me and the next available appointment is too far out, please contact my office at (925) 399-1529 and let us know it’s an emergency and we’ll see what we can do to take care of you.

Where?

Where the heck are you located, Kristen?

I am located in California, about 25 miles southeast of San Francisco.  However, I work with clients all over California.  Many of my clients I have met in person, but some I have only ever had telephone conversations with.  Believe it or not, this does work and it can work quite well.  Unfortunately, I am only licensed to practice law in California and cannot represent you if you are located outside of California, but if you are looking for an attorney in another state, please let me know by completing the Contact Kristen box, above and to your right, and I will see what I can do to find someone who can help.

How?

How exactly will this call work?

Okay, I will call you on the number provided at the scheduled time and date.  After the obligatory small talk, I’ll confirm that the time still works for you. I’ll assure you everything we’ll discuss will be kept confidential. I’ll propose an agenda to make the most productive use of our time. And once we agree on the agenda, we’ll get started. There’s nothing special you’ll have to do to prepare for the call. Just be in a quiet place where you can have a productive conversation, take some notes and be prepared to make decisions based on what we discover together.
